Volunteer or Intern with Us

    Time commitment

    • Three to six months, though shorter stays will be considered on a case-by-case basis

    Volunteer/Intern Opportunities

    • Many volunteers work directly with Udayan Ghar children or Udayan Shalini Fellows. Such volunteers might provide education support, mentorship, or skills training to Udayan’s young women and children, based on the volunteer’s interest or experti  Volunteers will work with Udayan Care and/or Udayan Care USA to create a project, course, or role for them while they are in India.
    • Other volunteers collaborate with Udayan Care’s Home Office, working either in research and program analysis or in nonprofit administration. Such positions are particularly well-suited to college interns and professionals with relevant expertise.  These volunteers will work with Udayan Care and/or Udayan Care USA to develop an initiative, project, or role to support the work of Udayan Care in India.

    Deliverables

    • Volunteers should contact Udayan Care USA at [email protected] at least six months prior to intended start date.
    • Volunteers will work with Udayan Care India staff to outline goals and expected outcomes
    • Volunteers will send weekly reports to their contact person on site and prepare a final report before departure to present their findings and/or reflect upon their experiences.
    • Volunteers will fill out an evaluation form to assist in the continuous improvement of Udayan Care’s volunteer program.

    Financial Requirements:

    • All volunteer work is unpaid.
    • Volunteers must pay for all expenses related to their travel, including airfare, insurance, visa costs, and housing. Those who choose to stay in an Udayan Ghar will be provided with a shared room with vegetarian meals included for a nominal fee of RS1000 (approximately $15) per day.
    • Volunteers are responsible for extending their medical and life insurance to cover the period of their stay in India, as well as to carry proof of insurance.
    • Volunteers are responsible for obtaining appropriate visas and arranging all travel to India. Udayan Care can issue an invitation letter if necessary.
